I am Second: Proper Marriage Service
I am Second Proper Marriage Service (unfortunately, there is poor audio quality on the recording because of my microphone placement on my sweater. Sorry about that.) Original Marriage *When it comes to any discussion about the human condition our goal is not to keep up with the times and all the world to dictate to us its notion of the ideal human condition. Our duty is to identify what is ideal by determining what is original to … Read entire article »

Commentary Philippians 1:1-2
Philippians Chapter 1:1-2 For modern readers we may be tempted to skew over the salutation portion of this letter to the Philippians in order to get to the real meat of what Paul might have to say. To do that would be for our loss and not for our profit because in these first two verses we are given great insight into what Paul is presenting to this fellowship of believers in Philippi and by extension … Read entire article »

I am Second: Proper Christian Service

2010 Annual Meeting
2010 Annual Meeting On January 31, 2010 New Life Christian Community held our annual meeting. In this time of worship we reviewed our 2009 Year in Ministry and looked ahead at some operational changes we need to make for 2010 including: changing our constitution and bylaws to reflect more clearly who we are as a fellowship of believers; implementing a more scripturally accurate leadership structure, setting aside qualified men to be equipped for pastoral eldership, and challenging the body of believers to be involved in ministry to the fellowship. We also presented the first steps of our work in establishing a new partner church in Amery, Wisconsin. This partner fellowship will work cooperatively with ours so that we may grow together in our Love for God, family, people and life. It will … Read entire article »

Itching Ears?
“for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 1 Tim 4:3 So I was reading online today some criticisms of Erwin McManus from Mosaic and it amazes me how many people will quote this verse when someone may preach or teach something that they themselves do not agree with. For them if someone has a different interpretation of a scripture or application, or presents the gospel by a different formula then they do the detractors immediately lump them in the category a preacher who is only willing to tickle the ears. Sadly, I have accused some of the same thing. … Read entire article »
